Overview

The McleodGanj Road Trip & Triund Trek combines the excitement of a scenic road journey with the adventure of trekking in the Himalayas. Starting from the vibrant hill town of McleodGanj, known for its Tibetan culture and stunning mountain views, this trek leads you up to the picturesque Triund Hill. Covering around 9 kilometers one way, the trail takes you through lush forests of pine and rhododendron, with occasional clearings that reveal breathtaking vistas of the Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar range.

The trek is suitable for both beginners and seasoned trekkers, classified as easy to moderate, with an ascent to an altitude of 2,875 meters (9,432 feet). After reaching Triund, you’ll camp under a sky filled with stars, immersing yourself in the tranquility of nature. This journey blends road trip excitement, beautiful landscapes, and Himalayan adventure, making it a perfect choice for anyone seeking a refreshing escape into the mountains.

How Each Day Looks

Day 01: Delhi To McLeod Ganj | Overnight Journey

The group assembles at the pickup point at 7 PM.
We’ll meet the team captains and a small tour briefing would also be conducted.
After which, we’ll head out on an overnight journey to McLeod Ganj which is a vibrant town nestled in Himachal Pradesh known for its rich Tibetan Culture.

Note: The pickup point for the journey would be Majnu Ka Tila Bus Stand/ ISBT Kashmere Gate/ RK Ashram Metro station.

Day 02: Arrival in McLeod Ganj | Local Sightseeing

Upon reaching McLeod Ganj, we’ll check into our hotel rooms and spend some leisure time.
Afterward, we will head out for a local sightseeing tour where we would be visiting the Namgyal Monastery, Bhagsunag waterfall, and the local Tibetan Market. We will also go for cafe hopping to hog on some Tibetan delicacies.
Dinner was followed by an overnight stay in McLeod Ganj.

Day 03: Trek to Triund (9 Kilometers, 5 Hours)

After early morning breakfast, we’ll head out for a trek towards Triund hill which is situated at the foothills of the Dhauladhar ranges and is known as the crown jewel of Dharamshala. En route, we’ll have a packed lunch.
At an elevation of 9432 ft, the Triund Top offers stunning views of the ntire Kangra Valley. The trail is adorned with pine trees and stretches up to an expanse of lush green grassland. We will be spending the night under the blanket of stars overlooking the mighty Dhauladhars.
Dinner and overnight stay in camps near Triund.

Day 04: Back to Mcleodganj | Departure to Delhi

After early morning breakfast, we will check out from our campsite and descend down to Mcleodganj.
Upon reaching Mcleodganj, we’ll explore nearby cafes.
In the evening, we’ll board an overnight bus for our return journey to Delhi.

Day 05: Delhi Arrival | Trip Ends

We’ll reach Delhi by early morning. The group will dissemble and go their separate ways with fond memories of the trip.
